Die Antwoord - Ten$ion Trailer

Check out this deliciously FREAKY video I just discovered on youtube.  A combination of performance art and music, amazing!!

Jane Burton

Australian Photographer, Jane Burton's seductive and enigmatic photographs are mysteriously dark and brooding.  Beautiful faceless nude figures shot in dark and desolate interiors evoke compelling questions in the mind of the viewer which cannot be put into words.  Her work is dark and provocative, surreal and romantic, a fascinating combination.  I adore her most recent body of work ~ White Stain.

Burton is wise in this hinted narrative not to give too much away. It could have been reduced to a daytime soap drama. Instead she makes the viewer the guilty party by simply allowing the imagination to read all sorts of salacious details into her shadows.  http://www.theage.com.au/news/arts-reviews/jane-burton-i-did-it-for-you/2005/12/01/1133311157461.html

French digital illustrator LostFish's strangely compelling female characters seem trapped somewhere between childhood and adulthood.  Her work is beautiful and expressive, quirky and captivating.   The expressive doll-like faces are at once innocent melancholy and sensual darkness, with a fabulous touch of the surreal.  I cant look away!

Exhumed Artists ~ Steven Arnold

Steven Arnold, American fine artist, photographer, filmaker, set designer and stylist (1943 - 1994).

Arnold was Salvador Dali’s muse, small wonder, his work is darkly beautiful, surreal and even magical with a big splash of sexual liberalism.  He is best known for his black and white photography which is powerful in its narrative around gender, sexual identity and freedom.  The costumes, props and sets are flamboyant and decadently excessive creating a fantastical set for a fabulous adventure into Arnold's surreal world of old Hollywood glamour.  See the short film below for a fascinating peak into the life and work of this amazing eccentric and enigmatic artist.

Thomas Couderc & Clément Vauchez

French illustration / graphic design duo Thomas Couderc & Clement Vauchez
combine stunningly posed blue tinted monochrome portraits with superimposed red animal silhouettes in this aptly named series Bêtes de Mode (Beasts of Fashion). The vibrant use of contrasting colours against a blanketing black background gives an almost 3D look as the figures seem to protrude from the frame. The synchronicity of the poses between human and animal create a fascinating and beautiful morph that begs the question, do we all have a "beast" within? If so, what beast are you?

Charmaine Olivia "Ritual" Exhibition @ Shooting Gallery, San Francisco

The devine Charmaine Olivia is showing her recent work at the Shooting Gallery in SF (14 Jan - 4 Feb). For all those in the San Fran area, please go and do tell me all about it, Im dying of envy!!

Ritual explores the themes of magic and earth energies within a series of imagined females from a mythology of the artist's own creation. The gallery will be transformed into a temple of altars for each of Olivia's demigods; each surrounded by installations of magical items, and other smaller artworks that pay homage to the central female. Olivia has investigated mankind's past cultural religious beliefs, and has incorporated everything from astrological symbolism to druid magic into her work. Her females represent power and strength within their particular realm of existence, similar to the gods of early polytheistic Greece. www.shootinggallerysf.com

Below are my personal favourites from the exhibition, that are of course also on sale (if not sold already).
